Self-esteem is a concept most people are familiar with, but what does it really mean, and why is it important for professionals to be aware of?

Good self-esteem is a fundamental prerequisite for achieving a sense of security, self-worth, and, ultimately, a healthy approach to life and oneself. It affects our psychological development, our motivations, and how we interact with others. 

Much of our self-esteem is shaped during early childhood, which makes our work in schools and daycare particularly important. We also know that self-esteem can be improved later in life, which makes the content of this lecture relevant from both a child and adult perspective.

This seminar will provide you with a foundational understanding of what self-esteem is, as well as focus on how we as professionals can influence it and how we can consciously promote positive development.
